GcvR under constitutive expression

This composite part consists of a BBa_J23100 promoter which allows constitutive expression of the gene GcvR gene. GcvR encodes a glycine cleavage transcriptional repressor. This transcription factor represses expression of genes found in the glycine cleavage operon when glycine levels are low by binding to the transcription factor GcvA. When levels increase, glycine prevents GcvR from binding to GcvA, resulting in the two disassociating and allowing GcvA to become active.
