This composite part consists of a BBa_J23100 promoter, which allows constitutive expression of the transcription factor GcvA (BBa_K3206004). GcvA encodes the glycine cleavage activator transcription factor, which is involved in the activating expression of genes in the glycine cleavage operon by binding to the promoter region of these genes. GcvA transcription factor is inactive under low levels of glycine due to GcvR binding to it.
