AreR_Acinetobacter sp. Strain ADP1
AreR is the regulatory protein of Acinetobacter sp. Strain ADP1. are operon and can be activated by benzyl alcohol or other aromatic compounds such as benzyl acetate, benzaldehyde, 2- and 4-hydroxybenzyl acetates, benzyl propionate and butyrate.
Usage and Biology
AreR is a member of the NtrC/XylR regulatory protein family and controls the expression of the areCBA genes in Acinetobacter sp. Strain ADP1. This σ54-type enhancer protein can bind to the repeat sequence upstream of the Pare promoter after activated by benzyl alcohol. In the case of cofactor-induced DNA looping, a closed promoter complex will be formed with RNA polymerase to turn on the downstream genes transcription. This protein can form a complete gene expression regulator with the Pare promoter.
