RNA polymerase Sigma-54 factor (rpoN)
Description
This is the protein-encoding gene for the RNA polymerase Sigma-54 factor (rpoN), which originated from Escherichia coli K12 strain.
Biology
RNA polymerase Sigma-54 factor is the initiation factor that promotes the attachment of RNA polymerase to the specific initiation site and its release. Naturally, this sigma factor is responsible for the expression of enzymes involved in arginine catabolism.
Usage
The activation of the sigma54-promoter requires the participation of an activator that binds to upstream elements and the contact between the activator and the sigma 54-RNAP holoenzyme. The contact point for transcription regulator, promote DNA strand separation, influencing the early phase of elongation, and promoter-proximal pausing. Transcription activation requires ATP hydrolysis and leads to a conformational change to an open complex for transcription.
