SPPel secretion signal for Bacillus subtilis
Usage and Biology
In B. subtilis the signal peptide SPPel can be used to secrete proteins from the inside of the cells into the cell medium. It can be used to secret heterologous expressed proteins into the cell medium as well as native proteins. In our case the signal sequence will be used to secrete milk proteins into the culture medium. The signal peptide was firstly identified and cloned by 1, and then used and characterised by Knapp et al.2.
