Tra inducible Synthase
Quorum sensing is a bacterial communication system that can be very useful for bacterial communication in synthetic biology. In this system, AHL (N-Acyl homoserine lactone) signaling molecules generated in a bacteria binds to a receiver in other bacteria to activate downstream gene expression. The AHL molecules are generated by a synthase and received by other bacteria through a reporter.
Among all the QS pathways, the Tra pathway is based on the production of the OC8-HSL (homoserine lactone) produced by the Tral protein. This part contains the Lasl transcribed by a promoter inducible by L-arabinose, permitting for controlled expression of the HSL signal.
