Acetyl-CoA carboxyltransferase subunit beta
Usage and Biology
The acetyl-CoA carboxylase subunit beta is part of the acetyl-CoA carboxylase ACC, which is the major regulator for fatty acid biosynthesis in E. coli. In this complex it forms an α2β2 heterotetramer with the acetyl-CoA carboxylase subunit alpha encoded by the accA gene.1 This tetramer catalyzes the reaction of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA by transferring a carboxyl group from carboxybiotin.2
The acetyl-CoA carboxyltransferase was used in our myristic acid synthesis module, BBa_K2588022.
