Chromodulin
Chromodulin is a chromium-binding biomolecule, low-molecular weight chromium-binding substance (LMWCr). It is a small oligopeptide with the molecular weight of 1 500 g/mol. Chromodulin has been found to be biologically active and form complexes by binding Cr3+ molecules. It comprised of heptapeptide with the sequence EEEEDGG, consisting mainly of four amino acid residues: aspartate, cysteine, glutamate and glycine that can bind four chromic ions per peptide. The binding is highly specific and cooperative having Kd=1021M-4 and Hill Cofficient=3.47.
