LacILOV

Combination of the light, oxygen & voltage-sensitive domain of Avena sativa phototropin 1 (asLOV2) with the DNA-binding region of the repressor protein naturally responsible for switching from glucose to lactose metabolism (LacI). This novel optogenetic tool acts to control the expression of genes under LacI targeted promoters. In the absence of light LacILOV acts as a repressor of gene expression, but disassociates upon blue light excitation.
