TEV Protease Cleavage Sequence
Protein sequence required for cleavage with TEV protease. Can be used as a linker between purification tags and proteins of interest, to allow specific cleavage of purification tag after use. TEV protease is sourced from the Tobacco Etch Virus and targets the recognition site ENLYFQ↓G, which is the amino acid sequence this DNA sequence encodes. Because the cleavage site is very sequence specific, it is a very useful protease to use on recombinant proteins because it will not indiscriminately digest the protein of interest, and will only cut at the site indicated.
