Isocitrate Lyase Gene Promoter (ICL1)
In the glyoxylate cycle, isocitrate lysase, plays an important part in catalyzing the cleaving of isocitrate and promoting the formation of glyoxylate. Expression is controlled by glucose which represses growth. And inducing growth is caused by the presence of ethanol.
Usage and Biology
The ICL1 promoter is a regulator of the gene Isocitrate Lyase that when turned on, catalyses the production of succinate and glyoxylate from isocitrate. This is crucial because these intermediates are used to synthesise glucose, a molecule crucial for cell survival and growth.
