Plant defensin corn 1(pdc1)-antifungal peptide
The defensin PDC1 peptide of corn could be effectively used to restrict the Fusarium head blight mainly caused by F. graminearum. The PDC1 peptide inhibits F. graminearum growth and viability, it has potential as a control agent for the disease.

component
A schematic representation of our basic plasmid types, the response construct. It includes the anti-fungal peptide coding gene (anti-fungal peptide) and the inducible promoter. This construct allows genes placed downstream of the inducible promoter to be transcribed when the yeast cells are induced with the appropriate inducer—methanol.
PCR
The pdc1 pcR amplification from the corn genomic DNA.Verify the target gene by Nucleic acid electrophoresis.(DL2000 DNA Marker)
SDS-PAGE
Pichia pastoris expression of Plant Defensin Corn 1 by SDS–PAGE (15%, w/v) polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and was visualized with the coomassie blue dye.The molecular weight is 11kDa.
Zone of inhibition
The Characterization of pdc1 by the inhibitiion zone.Through the different concentrations of the pdc1,we can qualitative analysis the size of the inhibition zone and then show the strength of plant defensin corn 1.
We test the cell viability under the action of a series of different concentrations of antifungal peptide. Among them we can conclude the MtDef4 possess the best antifungal activity while PDC1 possess a inferior antifungal activity. Significant differences versus vehicle were assessed by student’s t test: *=p<0.05, **=p<0.01, ***=p<0.001, ****=<0.0001.
