Endoxylanase
This endoxylanase cleaves internal beta-1,4 bonds in xylose polymers, such as those found in hemicellulose of plant walls, to make small chunks of xylose polymers. Our idea for this endoxylanase was to use it for the breakdown of hemicellulose in wood waste, allowing a beta-xylanase to degrade the hemicellulose further to xylose monomers which could be used by genetically modified yeast strains to create ethanol.
This part has been codon optimized to be expressed in E. coli.
