puc B coding region from R. sphaeroides
puc B is the LHII beta transmembrane protein coding region found naturally in Rhodobacter Sphaeroides. LHII complexes form the light-harvesting antennae the funnel energy down to LHI and the reaction center. They are naturally found in the ratio of 3-6.7 LHII per LHI. PucB forms a functional LHII complex only with pucA, and data suggests the precence of puc C,D, and E regions also contribute to the formation of a functional protein.
