Part:BBa_K2171004
SAHS2 - osmotic stress protein from tardigrade
Secretary abundant heat soluble protein 2 (SAHS2) - osmotic stress protein from tardigrade. This part is composed of K731500 (lacI-lacIq and a tac promoter) followed by a CDS of SAHS2 optimized for expression in E. coli. SAHS2 protein sequence was taken from UniProtKB: J7MAN2 (J7MAN2_9BILA). The eukaryotic secretion signal peptide (composed by 19 AA at N-terminus: MHRFVLALVVFAGAAIVWA) was removed and the remaining part ot the sequence was codon optimized for bacterial expression.

Usage and Biology
This part was used by iGEM Bulgaria 2016 team in attempt to create genetic construct that could allow for the conversion of any microorganism into a resistant-towards-desiccation-and-temperature-stress type.
