pEXPR TRE: mKate
This part is a red fluorescent protein mKate under inducible promoter TRE. When testing a gene of interest under the TRE promoter, such as a repressor, this part can be used in conjunction to give a readout on how much the gene of interest is being expressed. Since the gene of interest and mKate are under the same promoter in the same conditions, their expression levels will be the same, so the amount of red fluorescence, which is easily observable, can be used to determine the amount of expression of the gene of interest.
