EstC2
Catalytic enzyme (Esterase)
Part coding for a catalytic enzyme called carboxylesterase, which is used to hydrolyse esters and split it up into the alcohol and the corresponding acid. This specific gene sequence is naturally found in the microorganism Haliangium ochraceum.
Usage and Biology
It can be used to hydrolyse ester bonds of lipids found in commercial variaties of ink.
This gene is intended for use in B. subtilis, preceded by a secretory tag like BBa_K2029000 or BBa_K2029001 which signals the B. subtilis cell to secrete the coded protein into the medium.
