Lacticin Q producing

This BioBrick contain the coding region of Lacticin-Q, a bacteriocin produced by Lactococcus lactis QU5 and has shown bactericidal activity against Staphylococcus aureus. It functions by forming large pores by distributing membrane lipid organization.

Lacticin Q is a bacteriocin produced by Lactoco ccus lactis:QU5 and have showed bactericidal activity against Staphylococcus aureus (Ma et al. 2012). Lacticin Q is heat- & and pHstable. Lacticin Q, is a class IId bacteriocin and works by forming huge toroidal pores making it bactericidal(Okuda et al. 2013; Zendo 2013; Zendo et al. 2010). Lacticin Q has an N-terminal formylated methionine, and gene sequencing indicated that it is synthesized without a leader peptide. The peptide sequence consist of 53 amino acid, and is cationic, the peptide form two amphiphilic alfa-helix with a hinge region between (Zendo 2013; Zendo et al. 2010)
