This part encodes for pH regulated promoter and XrpA protein. pH sensitive promoter is F-ATPase operon promoter of Streptoccoccus Mutans [1]. A promoter is activated at external pH of 5. XrpA encodes for a protein that inhibits natural competence of Streptococcus mutans [2].
