ZmUbi

The Zea Mays Ubiquitin promoter for expressing genes in eukariotes. However, this sequence has been shortened in the 3' because of illegal restriction sites. The original sequence has been confirmed to work in Physcomitrella patens but this altered sequence has not. A transformation experiment in P. patens with this promoter sequence driven yellow fluorescent protein (YFP) has been carried out, but no transformants expressing YFP was observed after transformation. There is no indication that this promoter sequence works, but it is possible for other iGEM teams to use this sequence if they should want to do so.
