pLR + hpd + gfp
This part produces both the 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPD) enzyme as well as green flourescent protein. This part was designed to measure gene expression level in the vector it is put in. HPD catalyzes the reaction that converts 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate into homogentisic acid, the rate limiting step of tocopherol biosynthesis. Using this part in a vector that has a tocopherol synthesis pathway allows one to characterize the effect of tocopherol upregulation in your vector. It is regulated by part K817002, which acts constitutively without any additional operons. However, when the protein FadR is present, it is positively regulated by fatty acids.
