Part:BBa_K173022
adhB and pdc inducible system (HSL)
This part is a 3OC6-HSL -> pyruvate decarboxylase (pdc) and alcohol dehydrogenase II (adhB) inducible system.
pdc and adhB can engineer an ethanologenic pathway in a suitable host such as E. coli. The expression of pdc and adhB can be induced with 3OC6-HSL autoinducer molecule: it binds luxR protein (encoded by BBa_C0062), which is constitutively expressed by tetR promoter (BBa_R0040). LuxR-HSL complex can work as a transcriptional activator for lux promoter (BBa_R0062).
This inducible system is analogous to BBa_K173021, but with the two ethanologenic gene position cross-exchanged to study this position effect on ethanol production.
This BioBrick can be used to characterize the ethanol-producing activity of BBa_K173020.
