Genetic attenuator (synthetic transcription terminator) ~68% efficient

  • This basic part is a synthetic terminator that has been deliberately designed to be inefficient. Therefore, the terminator can be used as an genetic attenuator, which is useful in controlling gene expression (at least at the transcript level).
  • This part was designed by Jeffrey Gardner et al in 1987 (see References).
