Usage and Biology

NOTE: This part has had flanking restriction sites added to enable it to be used with type IIS assemblies compatible with PlantSyntax RFC105

MpEF1a is an important constitutive promoter for the plant chassis Marpo.

Active in meristematic tissues, as shown in the diagram below. As it is active in the earliest stages of development, this promoter can yield to high efficiencies of transformation

Time frames: This promoter is constitutive, but its expression is weak in nonmeristematic regions of the marchantia thallus:

If screening or selecting transformed Marchantia, it is recommended to use this promoter, since visible expression levels are usually observed earlier than using, for example, CaMV35S.
