Part:BBa_K1475009
Limonene synthase with tet promoter, RBS and terminator
This part contains the LIMS1 gene from Citrus limon encoding (R)-limonene synthase ([http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/Q8L5K3 UniProt:Q8L5K3] [http://www.brenda-enzymes.org/enzyme.php?ecno=4.2.3.20 BRENDA:EC 4.2.3.20]). The gene is under the control of the TetR repressible promoter, the tetR repressor can be found as bacis parts with Part:BBa_C0040, or without Part:K1475003 the LVA rapid degradation tag.
Usage and Biology
The LIMS1 gene encodes the (R)-limonene synthase from Citrus limon. (R)-limonene synthase conversion of geranyl diphosphate into (R)-limonene and diphosphate. [2]
(R)-limonene is the main component of lemon scent and is for instance used in food manufacturing.
