Deoxymugineic acid synthase (DMAS) is one of four enzymes which produce corn phytosiderophores, along with SAMS (K1422500), NAS (BBa_K1422501), and NAAT (BBa_K1422502). It produces 2’-Deoxymugineic Acid (DMA) by reducing the 3"-carbon of the keto intermediate 3”deamino-3”-oxonicotianamine.
