RBS recA730
The RecA is involved in the SOS DNA repair process and RecA730 is a mutant of RecA which has the protease activity permanently. It can activate the SOS repair markedly.
Usage and Biology
When DNA encounters severe damage which may leads to critical problem of the cell, the most prior task is to stabilize the DNA as soon as possible, even at the cost of generate mutation. SOS bypass is an emergency DNA repair method of cells. The functional enzyme of SOS is polymerase V. When the external signal ,like UV, activate the RecA coprotease activity, it can help the lexA gene to cleave itself, which will result in several genes to be induced. UmuD and UmuC are two of the induced genes. The product of UmuD gene will be cleaved by a proteinase and turn into UmuD’. The complex of UmuD’ and UmuC has DNA polymerase activity, which is referred as polymerase V.
