cI repressible promoter + translational ccdB
The Cubitus interruptus (CI) repressible promoter controls for the expression of ccdB. ccdB is a toxin that inhibits the function of DNA gyrase and interferes with helicase activity. As a result, processes such as DNA replication and RNA transcription are hindered, ultimately causing cell death.
