The Venus fluorescence protein is an improved YFP construct that was created by modifying GFP. The protein has been split at the 154th residue. The C-terminal venus can fuse with VN155 or VN173 to produce yellow fluorescence. We express the split venus constructs with a constitutive CAG promoter. A single split venus construct can not reconstitute to form a functional protein.
