dhlB 2-haloalkanoic acid dehalogenase

dhlB 2-haloalkanoic acid dehalogenase (dhlB, UniprotKB: [http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/Q60099 Q60099]),initially identified in Xantobacter autotrophicus strain GJ10, catalyses the fourth step of 1-2-dichloroethane (DCA) degredation: hydrolysis of chloroacetic acid (chloracetate) to glyolic acid (glycolate)[1] .

dhlB shows activity on other halogenated alkanes including (but not limited to): mono- and di-chloroacetates, mono-and di-bromoacetates and chloropropinates. [2]
