Alpha-Cell Promoter MF(ALPHA)2
This promoter was isolated by taking 500bp upstream of the MFα2 gene of S. cerevisiae, which encodes the α-factor mating-type α cells. This promoter will be activated when a factor is expressed in an a haploid yeast cell. This is the same sequence as the MFα2 promoter(BBa_K11005), but with suffix and prefix switched (right to left).
Usage and Biology
The MFα2 gene encodes the Mating factor α pheromone. This pheromone is secreted into the surrounding media and it induces shmoo formation, and mating in MAT-a haploid yeast cells. This promoter should be strong if used in haploid α-cells S. cerevisiae cells
