Inducible ampicillin resistance cassette (regulated by LuxR + N-3-oxohexanyol-HSL)
This device is a combination of BBa_K1073002 and BBa_K1073000 and mediates a inducible ampicillin resistance. It includes the inducible promoter of the lux quorum sensing system of Vibrio fischeri followed by a RBS and the ampicillin resistance gene coding for beta-lactamase.
Usage and Biology
The promoter is activated in the presence of LuxR in combination with the autoinducer molecule N-3-oxohexanoyl-homoserine lactone produced by LuxI. The expression of the beta-lactamase can therefore be induced and tuned by supplying LuxR and N-3-oxohexanoyl-HSL.
