Its transcript can prevent the mRNA itself from being degraded by exonuclease.
This segment cosists of a RBS ,a start codon and several stop codon in different reading frames. It is used in the 3'-UTR of a mRNA, preventing mRNA degradation mediated by exonuclease.The RBS can binding extra ribosome, preventing mRNA degradation mediated by exonuclease .The start codon is for more efficient binding and the stop codon prevent translation.
