Usage and Biology
This is the Tsr membrane receptor from Escherichia coli, which is one of the major chemotaxis receptors of the microbe. The Tsr receptor binds to the attractant serine and is required for detecting the repellents leucine, indole, and weak acids. Upon binding to the attractant, the Tsr receptor (together with CheW) activates the trans-autophosphorylation of CheA, which in turn activates the downstream response regulator, CheY.
