Butanol dehydrogenase
Butanol dehydrogenase (BDH II, bdhB) based on open reading frame CAC3298 from C. acetobutylicum ATCC 824 genome. This catalyzes the fifth step of butanol biosynthesis, producing butanol from butyraldehyde. It has been cloned into E. coli previously and activity has been recovered. It was selected over BDH I, CAC3299, based on greater selectivity for butyraldehyde over acetaldehyde (46x vs 2.6x).
