FLAG octapeptide special internal domain (DYKDDDDK)

This is a FLAG tag octapeptide special internal domain designed to be internal to the sequence of a protein. FLAG tags are a type of affinity tag that can be used to purify and/or measure the quantity of proteins.

Usage and Biology

The FLAG tag can be used at either the N- or C-terminus of a protein and can be used to purify protein from bacteria, yeast and mammalian cells using monoclonal antibody bound to a solid support. FLAG tags support nondenaturing purification of proteins. Note, however, that the monoclonal antibody matrix used for purification is not as stable as a Ni-NTA or StrepTactin column and cannot be regenerated for reuse.
