fliA promoter

FliA is a transcription factor involved in the formation of the flagella in E. coli. The promotor of fliA is induced by FlhDC. FliA seems to have also a positive autoregulation on its promotor.
We have introduced mutations in the sequence of fliA promotor in order to get rid of the PstI and EcoRI restriction sites.

The promoter cloned here corresponds to the promoter region given in the following paper:

Position 2000123-1999779 in MG1655 genome sequence.

Note that the promoter region given here includes the beginning of the fliA protein. It thus cannot be used with any protein coding biobrick since it will add a small peptide and most probably produce a frame shift in your protein. To use it in front of an ORF, this ORF must be preceded by a stop codon in the right frame.

We are currently building a new version of this promoter which will include stop codons so that it will comply with the biobrick standard and be usable in front of any protein coding biobrick. Sequence and Features
