sarA P1 Staphylococcus aureus Constitutive Promoter

This SarA P1 promoter is part of the sar locus from S.aureus strain RN6390 (Bayer et al., 1996). This locus contains three transcripts (SarA, SarB and SarC) and they are expressed under three separate promoters (Bayer et al., 1996). Moreover, each one of these promoters is capable of generate transcripts on their own (Bayer et al., 1996). This constitutive promoter has been shown to optimize expression of fluorescent marker such as YFP, GFP and mCherry (Malone et al., 2009, & Fey, 2014). The sequence of the SarA P1 promoter came from 1996 paper published by Bayer et al. (Bayer et al., 1996).
