Influenza A Toehold Switch

This part is the main element of our project since it serves as our detection device. Our project aims to create a portable detection device for influenza A and is using this toehold switch to do so. The user simply has to provide a saliva sample that is inserted in our device. If the user has the flu their saliva will have the virus in it which contains the segment of the PB2 gene that triggers the toehold sequence (this part) which activates our indicator. In the lab our indicator will be GFP since it is part of our toehold switch sequence in the plasmid. We are currently working on an indicator for the user.

This part was inspired by BBa_K2254030, another PB2 triggered toehold switch, by Team iGEM17_Hong_Kong-CUHK (2017).
