Rbs-autoinducer inactivation Enzyme (aiiA)- Double terminators

The RBS-autoinducer inactivation enzyme-double terminators is a translational part cloned in the AHL-degrading response circuit.


Usage and Biology

This biological fragment is constructed from three previously Biobricked parts. The Ribosome Binding site (RBS), leading the construct, facilitates the translation of the downstream DNA sequences by allowing ribosomes to bind. It exists in the registry as (BBa_B0034). The The autoinducer inactivation gene (aiiA) gene is originally isolated from Bacillus species, 240B1 strain. This gene encodes an enzyme which catalyzes the degradation of N-acyl-homoserine lactones (AHL), thereby disrupting Quorum Sensing. The aiiA gene was submitted to the registry in 2004 (Part:BBa_C0160). The double terminators (Part: BBa_B0015) follows this gene in the construct. The construct is also available without the RBS at (BBa_K218026).
