dhlA Haloalkane dehalogenase

Haloalkane dehalogenase (dhlA, UniProtKB: [http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/P22643 P22643]), initially identified in Xantobacter autotrophicus strain GJ10, catalyses the first step of 1-2-dichloroethane (DCA) in that organism. [1]

dhlA shows activity on other halogenated alkanes including (but not limited to): chloromethane, ethylchloride, chloropropanes, dichloro propanes, dibromomethane and dibromoethane. [2]
