VirA

This is VirA, a histidine kinase sensor originally found in Agrobacterium tumefaciens, Ti plasmid. It is part of the two-component VirA/VirG signal transduction system. This system is able to sense phenolic compounds and regulate gene transcription correspondingly.

VirA has illegal PstI restriction sites in its sequence. We used site directed mutagenesis to get these sites out. PstI was mutated from CTGCAG to CTGCAA.
