Design Notes

This part is composited from the Blues zinc finger gene(Part:BBa_K323136) and the vioA gene, which codes for the first enzyme in the violacein biosynthetic pathway. The resulting proteins are connected with a glycine serine linker. Therefore, the product of the DNA sequence is a chimeric VioA enzyme, which binds to a specific DNA sequence.

Source

The vioA sequence was obtained by PCR from an existing part, which was designed by the Cambridge 2009 iGEM team (Part:BBa_K274002). The Blues zinc finger is a synthetic gene, which our team designed and ordored from GeneArt.
