GLTP

The GLTP gene from Aureobasidium pullulans EXF-150 encodes a glycolipid transfer protein that plays a role in the intracellular transport of liamocin. Once liamocin is synthesized in the Golgi apparatus, GLTP proteins are responsible for the efficient movement of liamocin molecules from the Golgi apparatus to the plasma membrane.

The transport process involving GLTP is crucial for the secretion of liamocin into the extracellular medium. In the absence of GLTP, the transport of synthesized liamocin to the plasma membrane is impaired, leading to increased intracellular lipid accumulation and causing the gltp mutant cells to exhibit a swollen morphology (Xue et al., 2020).
