Design Notes

tphR,PtphC and eGFP can form a biosensor system that could detect the presence of TPA. tphR is combined with TPA to form a complex, which could activate the PtphC and express the downstream reporter gene.
Since wild E.coli has low ability to transfer TPA into its body, it is suggested to use tpiA-tpiB-tphC transport system described in BBa_K5233032 in order to have better effect

Source

PtphC and tphR comes from Comamonas thiooxidans strain S23, EGFP comes from an assay called "FACS-optimized mutants of the green fluorescent protein (GFP) ".
