pMEL1 - constitutive core promoter in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

pMEL1 encodes for secreted alpha-galactosidase is an enzyme required for the catabolic breakdown of melibiose into glucose and galactose. This process is regulated by several GAL genes. The enzyme plays a crucial role in carbohydrate metabolism, facilitating the utilization of melibiose as a carbon source (1) (2) (3).

In our system, pMEL1 was used to drive the expression of our reporter module with NanoLuc | BBa_K5477030. This reporter module is combined with the AhR receptor module and therefore comprises our biosensor systems | BBa_K5477041 and | BBa_K5477042 .
