pMEL1 - constitutive core promoter in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

pMEL1 encodes for secreted alpha-galactosidase is an enzyme required for the catabolic breakdown of melibiose into glucose and galactose. This process is regulated by several GAL genes. The enzyme plays a crucial role in carbohydrate metabolism, facilitating the utilization of melibiose as a carbon source (1) (2) (3).

In our system, pMEL1 was used to drive the expression of our reporter module with NanoLuc. This reporter module is combined with the AhR receptor module and therefore comprises our biosensor system.
