Design Notes

We aim to construct Drosophila lines to detect heavy metals in the environment. MTF-1 is used to trigger the response of Drosophila to heavy metal ions. MTF-1 is a transcription factor that can be activated by heavy metals. In the cell nucleus of Drosophila cells, MTF-1 binds to MRE to recruit RNA polymerase, in turn increasing the expression of Mto/Mtn to detoxicate metals. We replaced Mto/Mtn with Hid (head involution defective) to visualize transcription process.
