FmDes12

FmDes12 encodes ∆-12 desaturase from Fusarium moniliform which functions in the desaturase and elongase pathway and could convert C18:1 to C18:2.

Description

The FmDes12 encodes a protein of 477 amino acids. Heterologous expression of FmDes12 could catalyze C18:1 to C18:2 in Y. lipolytica.

Literature

The enzyme has been studied for improving the ratio of ω-3 to ω-6 fatty acids in microbes and plants.
