Vanillin receptor

VirA/G system is a phenol sensing system originally found in agrobacterium tumefaciens. it binds phenols such as vanillin and the activates gene transcription.

VirA and RpoA both have illegal restriction sites in their original sequence. VirA has two PstI sites and RpoA two EcoRI sites. We used site directed mutagenesis to get these sites out. PstI was mutated from CTGCAG to CTGCAA. EcoRI was mutated from GAATTC to GAATTT.
